Our Research

Harnessing the power of quantum technologies to address challenges in the chemical sciences

We employ quantum information techniques and non-equilibrium quantum states to access new paradigms of “deployable” NMR sensing, with the aim of performing physical and chemical measurement with nanoscale spatial resolution and significantly enhanced signal-to-noise ratios.

Major Themes at the Ajoy Lab

  • Instrumentation

With over 10 custom built instruments, we are always pushing for innovation and novel instrumentation capabilities

  • Spin Physics

From probing the fundamental mechanisms of spin relaxation to complex control of spin ensembles

  • Deployable Sensors

Materials with useful quantum properties allow for new sensing form factors and environments

  • Hyperpolarization

Using optical hyperpolarization, we are able to enhance and overcome fundamental NMR sensitivity limitations

  • Quantum Sensing

Taking advantage of complex spin physics and powerful sensor materials, we study new regimes with high sensitivity

  • Microfluidics

By deploying nano-diamonds into microdroplets or cells, we study enhanced reaction rates and cell behavior
